JFK - The Homecoming
The Homecoming is a specially commissioned, limited edition CD issued by THE JFK TRUST and THE KENNEDY HOMESTEAD to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the visit to Ireland by President John F. Kennedy.

When John Fitzgerald Kennedy came to Ireland for an official visit as the 35th President of the United States he came to a country that was changing. Ireland so long isolated was at last ready to take her place among the nations of the earth. For three days in June 1963 the spotlight of the world was focused on Ireland. One of the great characteristics of the Irish people was the burning desire to see their children prosper.

This was especially true for the Kennedy family who in three generations rose from being a poor Irish emigrant family to see one of their sons become President of the United States of America. In every corner of Ireland President Kennedy was welcomed with great emotion as people felt he was one of their own returning to the land of his ancestors. It was as if the whole Irish nation was laying to rest the ghost of the Great Famine of the 1840's when over one million people left Ireland never to return. The Legacy
The Kennedy family legacy is an integral part of daily life in Co. Wexford. The achievements of a distinguished family are celebrated in three heritage sites - The Kennedy Homestead, The Emigrant Ship "Dunbrody" and the JFK Arboretum. From humble beginnings the Kennedy family typified the indomitable Spirit Of Ireland venturing from Dunganstown to New Ross and onwards to a glorious life in the New World.

The John F Kennedy Trust was established in 1988 to perpetuate the legacy of the President. It does so by playing a leading role in the community life of New Ross and the surrounding district thereby enriching the lives of the people of Co. Wexford.
